Ekipe Orizzonte immediately responded with great character to their Champions League elimination by defeating Sis Roma during the make-up game for the seventeenth round of the championship.

In the afternoon, the red and blue team indeed won the derby against the yellow and reds, overcoming them with a decisive 10-7 at the Nesima pool (CT), ensuring they finish the regular season of the Serie A1 women's water polo in first place.

This victory allows the team from Catania to be +4 ahead of the team from the capital city, with only one round remaining until the end of the first phase of the season.

The match started tough for Ekipe Orizzonte, with Sis Roma ahead 2-1 at the end of the first period. The red and blue team came back strongly in the middle phase of the game, winning the second and third periods 3-1 and 4-1 respectively. The visitor's 3-2 win in the final period of play was inconsequential.

At the end of the match, the coach of Ekipe Orizzonte summarized her team's performance, saying: "Certainly, we didn’t start the game well, and the aftermath of what happened in the last three weeks was felt. It wasn’t easy to reset after being knocked out of the Champions just four days ago. Moreover, our opponents had ten days to prepare for this match, and we only had three, which is a bit absurd, but that’s how it is. However, it was important to win, and we did. I must also say that then our girls stepped up and played a tough, fierce match as needed. I think the score is deserved and there’s not much to say, in fact, there might even have been room for a larger margin based on the gameplay. But it's fine like this, we start from here and get ready for the playoffs."

Ekipe Orizzonte will return to the field on Saturday, April 12 at 5:00 PM at Nesima pool (CT) against SS Lazio Nuoto, to play the eighteenth and final round of the regular season.
