Eurocup | CN Barcelona falls in Serbia against Sabac (12-10), but secures 1st place
CN Barcelona lost its first match in the LEN Eurocup group stage. After four wins in four games, the dean of Spanish water polo lost in their visit to Sabac in Serbia (12-10). However, Andrei Iosep's team has secured the first position and still has one more match ahead in Hungary against Endo Plus Honved (5/12).
The match started well for the Barcelona team, who led in the first quarter (3-5) and reached the halfway point of the game in Balkan lands still two goals up (4-6). But the Serbians reacted after the break. They were fighting for their lives (direct duel against Panathinaikos in the last round for the second place) and scored five goals in the third period to equalize the match with eight minutes to go (9-9).
In the final period, the score was 10-10 with 3:28 remaining, and Stojanovic decided it with two goals (finishing as the top scorer of the game with a total of six) to set the final score at 12-10.
