Roma 2020 makes history: it's Serie A2!
An epic evening, one that will remain etched in the memory of a club, a city, and a sport: Roma 2020 secures promotion to Serie A2, defeating Pescara Nuoto e Pallanuoto in a hard-fought Game 2 with a final score of 14-13. After a 11-11 draw in regulation time, once again the match was decided in penalty shots. This victory sees the Roman team close the series at 2-0 and writes a new chapter in its young history, achieving promotion to Serie A2 for the first time.
This result is the culmination of an ambitious project, built with dedication, planning, and strong synergies that have allowed for a constant growth season after season, achieving the second promotion in two years, from Serie C to A2.
In the frenzy of Monterotondo's pool, packed with fans, the boys led by coach Calderone responded blow by blow to the experienced Abruzzo team, offering the fans a display of strength, tactical intelligence, and lots of heart.
A victory built thanks to the teamwork of the entire collective, which goes beyond the numbers and beyond the individual merits of each player.
The words of captain Emilio Romanini: "I still can't believe it, but it really happened.
I will never forget the journey we have taken, nor the words of those who predicted our relegation at the beginning of the season.
It was not easy. On the contrary, it was probably one of the toughest seasons many of us have ever faced, and to think that for some it was their first experience in a B league.
There are few words to describe a season that started from the bottom of the table and ended with a promotion to Serie A2; I can certainly affirm that teamwork always surpasses individual technical qualities, and we proved it in these playoffs.
Now we savor this moment, because we deserve it, we rest, and then we start again stronger than before. We must be prepared.

We also asked for a comment from our leader, coach Andrea Calderone: "I am truly proud of these great boys. A genuine group that has made a great journey, accomplishing a true sporting feat. Throughout the year and in these playoffs, they fell more than once, they suffered but they knew how to rise, learning from defeats and working on their limits, going beyond their capabilities with positivity and great sacrifice spirit, always putting the group's interest before the individual's.
A path of awareness that culminated in an unexpected promotion. Perhaps for this reason, it assumes an important value, especially against a valuable opponent to whom my most sincere compliments go, because they proved to deserve the promotion as much as us for what they did during the championship.
I dedicate this promotion to our entire movement, with the hope that this will be the starting point for even more ambitious goals for all of our youth categories.
