A2 F – Rare defeat in Civitavecchia
Lazio victorious 11-9. Next Sunday the final challenge against Volturno
An excellent second-half reaction by Rari Nantes wasn't enough to avoid defeat.
In Rome, the league leaders Nautilus Civitavecchia triumphed over Rari Nantes with an 11-9 score at the end of a match with two faces.
Rari Nantes had to do without the injured Galbani and with an increasingly young team.
The first half favored the home team who led 8-3, while the second half was all about Rari Nantes, who repeatedly closed the gap with the national team, but never managed to definitively turn the match around.
Civitavecchia won after Mazzia's 1-1, with a subsequent 3-0 break leading to a 4-1 lead at the first stop.
Perna and Mesterova reduced the gap at the beginning of the second half, but another 3-0 break allowed Civitavecchia to reach 8-3 at halftime.
In the second half, Slagter, Morselli, and Staglianò made the first move, with Slagter reducing the gap to 9-7 at the start of the last quarter. A back and forth followed, with Rari scoring through Morselli and Mesterova, but it wasn't enough to avoid Civitavecchia's victory.
Next Sunday, the match against Volturno will close the Rarigirls' regular season.
