Serbian 16-year-olds best at the tournament in Trebinje: Overcame Croatia, Montenegro, and Hungary

Serbian water polo players born in 2009 or later took first place at the tournament in Trebinje after a thrilling final where they defeated the Hungarian team with a score of 7:5.

It was a true final match with lots of swimming, contact, and great defenses. Hungary was leading after the first quarter, and at halftime, they had a minimal advantage (5:4). Then the Serbian defense played flawlessly, with Mateja Kosanović making outstanding saves, ultimately being named the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

With patient attacking, Serbia equalized in the third period and took the lead 6:5 in the last. In the final Hungarian attack, they played with the goalkeeper in the offensive, but the Serbian team defended, and with four seconds to go, Anđelić scored the final goal from a counterattack, making it 7:5.

Munćan, Anđelić, and Jakovljević-Jugović each scored two goals, with Pavlović adding one.

In the tournament, Serbia defeated Hungary 12:9 in the group stage and 7:5 in the final, Croatia 12:7, while against Montenegro, they lost 11:8 in the group stage but won 13:12 in the semifinals.

The list of players selected by the head coach Vojislav Čupić for this tournament included: Mateja Kosanović (Partizan), Nemanja Paležević (Šabac), Stefan Lazić (Partizan), Luka Savatić (Šabac), Nikola Bistrović (Partizan), Veljko Šiljković (Radnički), Nikola Pavlović (Šabac), Uroš Munćan (Novi Beograd), Luka Anđelić (Partizan), Strahinja Stanimirović (Partizan), Milan Pijetlović (Šabac), Andrej Jovanović (Partizan), Andrija Čubrilović (Novi Beograd), Miroslav Jakovljević-Jugović (Šabac), Pavle Papić (Partizan), Lazar Mićić (Partizan), and Maksim Krečković (Šabac).

In the coaching staff, Srđan Aksentijević and Filip Batinić were assisting.
