Men's U19 Euro: teenagers and precision? It's possible!

Men's U19 European Championship: teenagers and precision? It's possible!

At least from teenagers, the efficiency with which the Hungarian guys won a mirror-like victory over Montenegro in the U19 is impressive on the second day of the European Championship. Advantages sold with sure hands, action goals coming at the best time, first-rate defensive work with János Gyovai, who made 10 saves, - this is how it ended 13-9; we won each quarter by one, and for a moment there was no doubt which was the better team.

The opening part was more encouraging than the day before, on the one hand we took the lead in turns, on the other hand, the goals worked, the first three goals were scored right away by Vince Varga, Bence Haverkampf and Olivér Leinweber - it's another matter that the Montenegrins were also in the water and equalized with a penalty and then with some luck. First, the ball coming from the wall slowed down and hit Jani Gyovai on the block and trickled over the line, then the ball came back to them in the second deficit after the first shot, and while we solved everything (also) in the first, this time they scored the third goal thanks to Janovic . As during our dynamic attack, Varga got some space at five meters, and he used it beautifully to score an action goal, thanks to the goals we had the lead. It could have been more, but Vince put the five on the crossbar.

However, our fourth goal, which extended to the beginning of the second part, made it 5-3, Leinweber sensationally put it away from the wing - on the other hand, the "usual", two-shot Montenegrin goal sat again. On the other hand, after a bad cross pass, we didn't take advantage of the numerical superiority for the first time - then, as soon as the drying went well again, Simon Balázs could practically checkmate (6-4). Due to the indiscipline of the rival, another one followed after a timeout, but we overplayed it a bit and Varga was blocked at the end.

The referees could not be complained about, it is true that the Montenegrins did not play tricks, in any case, while our zone filtered, theirs they scattered the people from the narrow, and Haverkampf put in the first-class pass from the Czech Maxim from the wall, so we already went with three.

The Montenegrins forced the two-center play, but they did not receive a no-ball decision, but the postponement of the passes went quite well . After that, a bit of a shooting competition unfolded, the gentlemen let in two balls each here and there, none of which resulted in a goal. Lugosi's cross was already more encouraging, but the goalkeeper was able to reach the ball coming from a slightly out-of-place position. That's why it was a shame, but especially for the last second, because Vuckovic was able to score the free throw - well, don't complain, we won with the same score yesterday and still led 7-5 at halftime.

Then soon it was three again, Marcell Szécsi shot to five, and Ádám Peőcz smoothed it over with a sure hand. After Gyovai's excellent save, Szécsi found himself in a promising position, but the Montenegrin goalkeeper reached out of his goal with great sense to take the shot. Gyovai covered their left-hander again, and after a swept pass, Lugosi was sent out to pull back, and after a timeout, they played their chance - but we parried it easily! Gyovai really got into it, he defended the third outside first-class, and Vince Varga snapped so much from six that the goal almost fell, making the score 9-5. The Montenegrins improved quickly, Janovic scored their goal smoothly and quickly. Never mind, Lugosi also delivered a penalty, Leinweber was there now, and he doesn't make mistakes. Unfortunately, Perov scored a goal from the wing that should have been saved; but we still had a three-goal lead going into the final part.

After two minutes, the lead was reduced to two, Strahinja Gojkovic, the son of the recently departed senior captain, converted a lead with a top-notch snap reminiscent of his father - soon Peőcz didn't stand a chance either. to the opponent's goalkeeper with a quick finish. Gyovai saved a long shot, Varga's drop would have deserved a goal, but it trickled off the top bar.

Never mind, we were finally able to hang on a little from our goalkeeper's ninth save, and János Gidófalvy put the ball beautifully into the long goal from the wrong hand, 3: With 27 to go, we went up by four again (12-8). And we kept it, all the creativity of the Montenegrins consisted of fighting for six-meter free throws, but either Gyovai defended (it closed with 10, they got to 4 over there, if someone was looking for the decisive difference), or they tried to pass it, but they didn't get anywhere. When Róbert Kovács called for time one minute before the end, the three points were already in his pocket - Gidófalvy showed how to call the bell from seven for the sake of respect. >Our team collected its second victory with an extremely convincing game, which means that the quarter-finals are very close, but we will only know the final result after the Croatian-Spanish match in the evening.
