Our national team qualified for the "8" of Europe, 12-10 Italy
Our National Young Men's Water Polo team (U19) "paired" their victories in Group B of the European Championship, which is being held in Burgas, Bulgaria, after defeating Italy 12-10, on Tuesday (3 /9) and secured her direct qualification to the "8" of the event.
The next game for Ilias Machira's squad is scheduled for Thursday (5/9), with an opponent to be determined from Wednesday's cross game (4/9).
Our representative group was behind in the score with 0-2 in the first eight minutes and 2-4 after three minutes in the second, but with goals from Spahits, Lykoudis and Laskaridis managed to lead 5-4. After the Italians' 5-5, another Greek streak followed. With two goals by Georgaras and one by Angelopoulos, Bitsakou, our national team took a 9-5 lead, three minutes before the end of the third period. The Italian team managed to "nibble" the difference (9-8 and 10-9), but in the last three minutes Lykoudis and Angelopoulos gave the solution (12-9).
