Jadran in the Finals - Croatian Water Polo Federation

The defending champions entered another final in a champion's style. After a victory with a five-goal advantage in the first match in Split, the Jadran team celebrated again in Šibenik against Solaris with the same difference.

Eight different scorers, winning all four quarters, and almost constant lead characterize their performance. The only exception was when Sunčani took a 2-1 lead in the opening minutes of the game. In the third quarter, Jadran effectively secured their victory when guests, with two goals by Loren Fatović (the second in a counter-attack), increased their lead from 8-6 to 10-6. The top scorers for the Split team were captain Marinić Kragić and Butić, both with 3 goals each. With a 2-0 lead in the semifinal series, Jadran convincingly advanced to the final of the Croatian Championship.

Riječani in the Battle for 5th Place

Almost simultaneously while the semifinal was played in Šibenik, Primorje EB played their 2nd match for the ranking from 5th to 8th place in Rijeka. The players of Medveščak from Zagreb could not match the performance of Primorje even in the first encounter in their pool (21-10 for Primorje EB), and the same happened at Kantrida.

In fact, it is enough to mention that the visitors scored their first goal just a minute before the end of the second quarter, but by that time Primorje EB was already leading 7-0!

Thus, Primorje EB secured the match for the fifth place, and their opponent will be determined on May 2nd. On that day, Mornar and Zadar 1952 will face each other in Split for the second match. The first match in Višnjik ended 17-16 in favor of Mornar.
