KNZB JTT (d) ends with defeat against Polar Bears | Waterpolo.nl

The female water polo team of the KNZB Junior Talent Team lost the final match of their Eredivisie season in Eindhoven against vice national champions Polar Bears with a score of 16-8. With four wins and four losses, the national youth selection can look back on a valuable campaign at the highest national level.
In the first quarter, the team coached by Richard van Eck saw the Polar Bears take a 4-1 lead. In the second period, the Dutch youth team briefly reduced the difference to one goal when Myrthe Broekmate scored for 7-6. Before the halftime break, the gap widened again to three in favor of Polar Bears, thanks to goals from Renee de Kleer and youth international Kiara Heerink: 9-6.
Even after the 'big pause,' the home team remained close to the visitors from Ede (11-7). In the closing quarter, the current third-placed team in the Eredivisie finally created a significant gap. After goals from Ede's Tatum van der Elst (also a member of Jong Oranje), Nina van de Geijn, Aniek Roekevisch, Renee de Kleer, and Storm Willemsen, JTT player Pien Gorter scored 16-8 just a second before the buzzer.
The Eredivisie clubs are preparing for the season opening, the play-offs. For the Under-20 and Under-18 Dutch national teams, the preparation will then begin for the summer events: the World Juniors Championships in Brazil for the U20 team and the European Juniors Championships in Malta for the U18 team.
The KNZB JTT staff thanks all Eredivisie clubs, referees, and everyone involved for the excellent matches this season at the Pieter van den Hoogenband Swimming Stadium.
