TeLiMar, last challenge of the regular season against Roma Vis NovaThe Addaura Club seeks direct salvation in front of the home crowd

Palermo, 04/18/2025 - TeLiMar is gearing up for an important event in the current sports season. Tomorrow, Saturday, April 19th, at 3 p.m., the team coached by Gu Baldineti will take to the water at the municipal pool "Pietro Giliberti" in Terrasini to face Roma Vis Nova on the final day of the regular season. The match will be officiated by referees Daniele Bianco and Marco Piano. The game will be broadcast live on the TeLiMar Pallanuoto Facebook page.

The challenge against the Roman team could be a turning point for the Addaura Club, currently fighting to avoid the playoffs. With Florentia and Quinto - both with 26 points compared to Palermo's 25 - facing Trieste and Onda Forte respectively, TeLiMar must give their best to secure victory and keep alive the hope of direct salvation, which will only be possible in case of concurrent defeats or draws by the two competitors.

Captain Ciccio Lo Cascio does not hide the complexity of the challenge: "We are aware that it is a difficult match; in the first round, I think we played our worst game of the season. But we are eager to get in the water and win to hope for direct salvation, which is still possible. Until the final standings are clear, we will give our all to steer clear of the playoffs."

Roma Vis Nova, already mathematically safe, arrives in Terrasini with the tranquility of having nothing to lose, but with the determination to finish the season on a high note. For TeLiMar, on the other hand, the stakes are high: the Palermo team must replicate the intensity and character shown in the last few matches, trying to take advantage of home field and the support of the crowd. Looking at the opponent, among whose ranks also plays former player Quinn Woodhead, who was born in '89, adds: "Roma Vis Nova is a good team, with a very strong center forward and truly valid external players. It's no coincidence that they are in the top of the standings. We need to be good at playing focused, without giving anything away in defense and without forcing on offense to avoid their counterattacks. Playing at home will surely give us the right boost to honor the commitment and secure another three points. At the end of the match, we will understand where we stand."

Reflecting on the standings, "unfortunately - emphasizes the center forward - it does not depend solely on us. Florentia and Quinto are ahead by just one point, but we are not worried. We just need to focus on ourselves, think about winning and, as I said before, evaluate at the end of the match. We want to play a great game, and the only way to do it is to focus on ourselves."

Lo Cascio sends a message to the team: "We must play calmly and as a team because, when we have managed to do so, we have put all opponents in difficulty, even the top teams. Ours is a team with a lot of potential, and I trust each one of us. I am sure, looking at the last few matches, that we have made progress. So, I am not worried, and neither should anyone else be. We will achieve our goal. I see all my teammates who give their all every day for three or four hours. Throughout the season - explains Lo Cascio - I have always tried to give some advice or motivate someone when needed. I have no regrets. I know what we have been through, I know the sacrifices we have all made, and I am sure they will pay off. Of course, I have some extra thoughts compared to previous seasons, but it's normal, the stakes are higher now, not just a placement in the playoff grid, but something even more important, maintaining the category for us as a team and for the club."

Marcello Giliberti, President of TeLiMar: "Tomorrow, victory is mandatory for us. It will be an extremely difficult match, but I believe that if we play as a team, calmly, attentively, and with great determination as we did against Trieste and Posillipo, we can earn three points. The rest will depend on the results of Quinto and Florentia. We have made mistakes in matches we shouldn't have, now we must give our best, showing all the good work we have developed throughout the season."
