
No. 6 Long Beach State Drops Last Home Game Against No. 1 Stanford
The Beach will close regular season on the road against UC Davis and UC Irvine.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – No.6 Long Beach State struggled on offense against the top team in the country, Stanford, dropping their final home game, 11-3.
No. 1 Stanford (15-1, 2-1 MPSF) started off strong holding Long Beach State (13-10, 4-1 Big West) scoreless for over two quarters. Chelsea Oliver denied a penalty shot but the Cardinals came out of the first quarter up 3-0. The lead extended after the Cardinals found two goals with a late one to close the second quarter with the Beach trailing 5-0.
The second half started with Stanford opening a 7-0 lead over the Beach but back-to-back goals by Spaniards Elisa Portillo and Rita Gurri Capel got LBSU on the board down 7-2 after three quarters. The Cardinal started the final quarter with a 3-0 run before senior Amanda Price added a powerplay goal. A late goal by Stanford closed the game, 11-3.
The Beach will finish the regular season on the road, facing No. 16 UC Davis Saturday April 5. Live stats for the match can be followed through thefosh.net.
