Mladost and Jadran in the Finals - Croatian Water Polo Federation
On Sunday, starting at noon, in Split, the final match for the Croatian championship title in the youth category will be played between Mladost and Jadran. This is the result of the Saturday matches, which were the semi-finals during the final tournament at the Poljud pool.
On Saturday morning, the rankings were determined in the quarter-final groups E and F. In these groups, both Mladost and Jadran achieved a perfect score without any losses. They were followed closely by the players from Cavtat and Medveščak. Thus, the semi-final pairs were determined.
In the first semi-final match, in a city matchup between Mladost and Medveščak, each team won one half. Literally. Mladost won the first two periods 5:0 in total, while the Medvjedi team won the next two periods 4:0. Interestingly, all four goals for the losing team were scored by the same player – Ivan Brečić. Although the 5:4 victory suggests a great battle and suspense, it wasn't exactly like that. Medveščak scored their first goal just a minute before the end of the third quarter (5:1). Similarly, the goal for the final score of 5:4 was scored by Medveščak at the sound of the buzzer. This was the 7th game and 7th victory for the young Mladost players in this tournament.
Jadran won 6 out of 6 games (they played the preliminary round with fewer clubs), but the team from Split lived up to their favorite status. It is worth mentioning that last year, Jadran won both the Cup and the Croatian Championship in this category.
Last Saturday, they first defeated Medveščak in the quarter-final group for the top spot, and then in the semi-final, they defeated the excellent Cavtat by two goals difference, with Vedran Eraković scoring 6 goals.
On Sunday, HVS TV will broadcast both medal matches, just like they broadcasted both semi-final matches.
Starting at 11:00, Medveščak – Cavtat for the bronze medal,
at 12:00, Mladost – Jadran in the final.
Prior to that, matches for the final standings, for the 5th and 7th place, will be played.
Gusar from Mlini won against Osijek for the 13th place. The 15th place went to the hopefuls of VK Zagreb who defeated Siscia, while the 17th place was taken by ZPK with a victory over OVK Split.
