We already know the pairings of the XXXIX King's Cup after a spectacular draw at the Aquarium
We now know the matchups for the 39th edition of the Copa de S.M. El Rey, which promises to be an exciting event at the facilities of Zodiac CN At. Barceloneta. From February 14 to 16, the Sant Sebastià pool will be buzzing with numerous novelties and spectacular performances for attendees.
This Friday, a very special draw took place at the Barcelona Aquarium, surrounded by sharks and marine life. Two divers retrieved the balls from the oceanarium, surrounded by exotic fish. And now, the competition bracket is set.
During the event, several officials gave speeches, including Julián García, president of the host club, and Fernando Carpena, president of the RFEN. Also in attendance were representatives from the Generalitat and the Ciutat Vella District of the Barcelona City Council.
“We want to thank the FCN and, especially, the RFEN for choosing us as the host venue. We offer our facilities to clubs, players, and fans. We want this to be a celebration after so many years without organizing the tournament. And my sincerest appreciation goes to the other participating clubs—we all make this possible,” said Julián García.
“We appreciate the effort of the host club in organizing a draw in such a unique location, something unprecedented. The shark analogy is fitting. We are committed to water conservation at all levels. Thanks to Fluidra, Turbo, and the sponsors. We are at the start of a new Olympic cycle, coming off a successful period thanks to everyone’s collaboration,” said Fernando Carpena in his speech.
“We seek visibility so that companies understand that a successful sport like this, with these values, needs support. It is vital. Athletes and organizations put in a great effort. Our goal is to attract more interest so that today’s event is not just an anecdote,” added the RFEN president.
After the two divers released the balls into the aquarium, fate determined the following quarter-final matchups:
