Transcript of the video interview:
– Congratulations Bátori Bence. You won the Round of 16 and advanced to the quarterfinals. I'd like you to provide a brief summary of this match, but most importantly, how did you manage to lose by one goal there?
– I think we shouldn't underestimate Barcelona to the extent that we lost. They are a very good team, and they didn't win the Euro Cup group by chance; they beat very strong teams.
– I asked based on the first quarter here...
– Yes, the first quarter here was 5:0, if I recall correctly. But if you look at the final result, it was 15:10, so the second, third, and fourth quarters were all even. We prepared to start strongly, to show them that we are here in Komjádi.
I am glad we succeeded, I am happy that many people came out. It was fantastic teamwork, and well, we're moving forward. It's basically a continuous grind now.
– How is the team's development going? How much more do you have within you? Where do you need to improve?
– Improve? Well, in everything, basically. If I look at it now, the 10 goals we conceded are a lot; we let in quite a few avoidable goals. I'm not saying this as a joke; we have room for improvement in every aspect.
As you know, we don't yet know who our opponents will be in the Euro Cup, but we have a very serious six weeks ahead in the championship, a very serious grind, so... we are progressing nicely, step by step.
– Congratulations again, and have a good rest!
– Lévai Márton, the goalkeeper of Vasas, is with me. Congratulations on the victory; it was very confident. I also asked Bence how such a difference was possible, how you managed to lose to this team. What happened at the beginning of today's match was simply amazing.
– Welcome, and greetings to the viewers! Yes, the first quarter was convincing, holding onto that 5:0 lead until the end of the match. Outside, we didn't start so well, in fact, we had a pretty weak start in the first half.
I think that stuck with the team and we wanted to prove ourselves at home, in front of our home audience – thank you for the support here as well.
We started really well in today's match, and the water was really boiling, it was evident that the team was very united.
– Yes, they scored a goal or two at times, but there was really no danger. So, it was clear throughout that you had it. I'd like to ask you too, where are you in terms of team building, in terms of development? How much more do you have? I assume there's more.
– We're only halfway through the season, and looking at the results: we are the last Hungarian team in the top ranks of the Euro Cup, so with that knowledge and earning it, we are obligated to perform well. We are also doing well in the championship. I really think that, as seen in today's match and in the previous league games, the team is in good form.
Young players also get many opportunities, like today's match with Ragács Benedek. Even in the championships. So, I think we are on a good path now.
– What's next for you in the near future?
– We will have two home league matches now. One against Szeged, which has been rescheduled from this week, and then Debrecen, and soon after, the Euro Cup quarterfinals. We are waiting for the draw.
– Thank you very much!
