Summary of the second day
The second day of the final tournament of the Croatian Championship for the youth age group "nada," which is being held in Split, brought us close to the end of the initial phase of the competition in the basic groups. The final rankings will be known after the conclusion of the morning session on Friday when the final round matches in all four groups are scheduled, although the outlines are already quite clear.
In Group A, Mladost is dominant, with their boys playing three matches on Thursday and winning all three convincingly. They secured a victory against POŠK 1937 with a 23-goal difference (25:2), a smaller lead against Solaris but more effective because they did not concede a single goal (15:0), and then they also defeated their fellow citizens from VK Zagreb (20:4).
In Group B, the ruler is Jadran. After a convincing victory over ZPK (28:2), in the second round they faced city rivals; Jadran versus Mornar. Last year, these two teams claimed first and second place in the "nada" age group in the national championship and cup. This time, Jadran triumphed 14:2, with 9 goals from Vedran Eraković.
In Group C, three rounds were played (just like in the other groups), and the young players from Cavtat stand out. They first defeated the young players from Jug (11:5), then Zadar (12:6), and finally, they dominated against Sisak. Another game with a clean sheet, as the team from Sisak failed to score a single goal.
In Group D, Medveščak has two victories in as many matches. They first outplayed Gusar from Mlini (with a 9-goal difference in a match with a total of 29 goals), and then were double successful against Primorje EB (8:4).
However, the situation in this group could become more complicated on Friday, if Makarska's Galeb MR defeats Medveščak and Primorje EB defeats Gusar from Mlini who currently have no points. If that happens, three teams would have the same number of points - Medveščak, Galeb MR, and Primorje EB.
After all four basic groups are completed, further groups will be formed based on that ranking. The top two teams from Groups A and C will form Group E, while the top two from Groups B and D will form Group F. These teams will continue competing for rankings from 1st to 8th place.
That being said, it does not mean that the other teams will finish the competition. They will continue to compete for rankings from 9th place and lower.
