Radnički after penalties, Novi Beograd, Red Star, and Wolves convincingly to the final tournament of the Serbian Cup
The water polo teams Radnički, Novi Beograd, Crvena zvezda, and Vukovi have qualified for the final tournament of the Serbian Cup, which will be held in December.
The most suspenseful match was in Šabac, where Radnički won after penalties with a total score of 15:14. In the other three matches, there was no uncertainty. Novi Beograd defeated Valis 13:6 in Valjevo, Crvena zvezda was better than Vojvodina 14:6, while NBG Vukovi convincingly beat Partizan 18:11, earning their first spot in the final tournament.
Throughout the match in Šabac, there was a fierce battle. Radnički took the lead through Nikola Jakšić, but Šabac turned the tables to 3:1. The team from Kragujevac quickly equalized, and the first half ended with a tied score of 5:5. In the second half, Šabac once again took a two-goal lead through Ognjen Stojanović and Mihajlo Repanović, but Nikola and Petar Jakšić answered on the other side. It was only in the middle of the final quarter that the favored guests took the lead for the first time at 10:9. They then led 11:10, but Šabac equalized through Novaković 17 seconds before the end of regular time, leading to penalties.
In the first series, Radnički's goalkeeper Stefan Todorovski saved a shot from Aleksandar Kovačević, but in the fourth attempt, the players from Šabac equalized after Pavle Gavrilović blocked Filip Janković's shot. However, in the last series, Radoslav Filipović stood tall between the posts and saved Andrija Korać's attempt, allowing Radnički to advance to the final tournament.
The most prolific player in Radnički's team was Nikola Jakšić with four goals, while on the other side, Ognjen Stojanović and Aljoša Mačić each scored two goals.
Crvena zvezda and Vojvodina swapped hosting for this match, but that didn't deter the Belgrade's red and whites from a convincing triumph, although the question of the winner was only settled in the last eight minutes when Aleksandar Filipović's players made a strong run. Aleksandar Radanović was the top scorer with four goals for the winners, while Kalinić scored three times for Vojvodina.
Novi Beograd continued their winning streak that has lasted since the beginning of the season, as they easily handled Valis away. The Valjevo team kept pace in the first half, which ended 7:5 in favor of the guests, but in the third period, everything was decided. Vasilije Martinović was the most effective with three goals for the winners, while Nikola Bućan netted two goals for the home team.
For the first time, the Wolves will participate in the final tournament, as they eliminated Partizan convincingly in the quarterfinals. The host did most of the work in the second period, leading 11:5. Filip Ćorić was outstanding with an impressive seven goals for the winners, while Draško Gogov added four.
