Croatia is in the quarterfinals!
The string of good news or victories from the Turkish city of Manisa continues. In the round of 16 of the World Championship for girls under 16, Croatia convincingly defeated Canada. Rivals were practically not offered even a shred of chance for a possible surprise. Canada is normally a country that has a very strong women's national team in senior age, but it is obvious that slowly our young girls are not only catching up with them, but that they have even overtaken them. There were some slightly optimistic statements from our camp even before the game, but still wrapped in cellophane of caution. When the match started, the caution disappeared, only Croatian quality remained. Proven better than the Canadian women.
The rivals did not lead for a single moment, and the best they did in terms of results was one alignment, at the beginning of the match (1:1). Already by the middle of the second quarter, it was 5:1 for Croatia, a "punctuated" goal by Canada and the issue of the winners was practically solved. Of those 5 goals, Neli Janković scored 3. In essence, Neli was an unsolvable puzzle for the Canadians throughout the game, and by the end of the game, our member of the national team scored as many as 6 goals from 7 attempts.
In the quarter-finals of the World Cup, Croatia will face the Netherlands tomorrow or Tuesday, which, before our match, easily defeated South Africa 13:3 without conceding a goal in the last two quarters. The match between Croatia and the Netherlands will start at 3:30 p.m.
