Now it is really everything is ready to play. In the splendid setting of Trieste Campus, an innovative sports facility inaugurated only a few months ago, the presentation of the 2024/2025 season of Pallanuoto Trieste took place. A “glaze” that saw the protagonists of the A1 men's and A1 women's series teams of the sponsored company Samer & Co. Shipping, who will take to the water for the first official matches starting next week. While the third first halberd team, the Paralympic one, will be involved in the A Finp series from spring 2025.
In front of an audience full of authorities, it was up to the president of Pallanuoto Trieste Enrico Samer to do the honors: “We are happy to start again right here, from Trieste Campus, in the epicenter of a hub of sports facilities that will soon become one of the main ones in circulation. The teams are getting ready to face the relevant tournaments, and we know well that the Italian championships are among the most competitive in the world, in any case we are equipped to make progress. We made a lot of changes this summer in the men's group, while we focused on a strong strengthening of the women's group. Then there is the European stage, which we care a lot about. We aim high, we have ambitious goals and we will do our best to achieve them”.
During the event, speeches were given by Elisa Lodi, Councilor for Sports for the Municipality of Trieste, who explained how “President Samer’s enthusiasm is contagious, the teams are strong and organized, they will know how to perform well”, the director of the Federal Center of Trieste Franco Del Campo, who reiterated “the full availability of the Bianchi pool for a leading reality like Pallanuoto Trieste”, the regional president of Fin Sergio Pasquali, who underlined “the great national and international prominence that Pallanuoto Trieste guarantees”, the provincial delegate of Coni Ernesto Mari, favorably impressed “by this beautiful campus, a real jewel, a mirror of a company that is growing step by step with caution” and the coordinator of Sport and Health Fvg Erika Dessabo, who underlined in particular “the excellent work done by Pallanuoto Trieste in the youth sector”. While the councilor for local authorities Pierpaolo Roberti, representing the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, explained that "the institutions, the Region first and foremost, are investing heavily in sports and Pallanuoto Trieste has the great merit of keeping our flag flying high around Italy and Europe".
The general manager of Pallanuoto Trieste Andrea Brazzatti focused on the competitive aspects of the incipient season: "We have grown, without rushing, to the point of putting down solid roots in A1 and in the European cups. In a handful of days the official commitments will return, we will face them with an almost revolutionized team like the men's team and a very well-supported one like the women's team. Let's look up, where Pallanuoto Trieste deserves to be. I would also like to thank the staff who work behind the scenes, behind the A1 boys and girls there is a group of people who work tirelessly and allow our athletes to train with serenity".
The presentation then continued with the one-to-one call of the alabard players, leaving space in closing for the captains Lucrezia Cergol and Ray Petronio and the coaches Paolo Zizza and Maurizio Mirarchi. Finally, president Enrico Samer took the floor again, who presented together with Daniele Bettini, former coach of the A1 men's series and now coach of the alabard paralympic team of the Finp series A, the ambitious project "Water Polo For Everyone".
