Radnicki from "-5" to placement in the Champions League!
Radnički's water polo players qualified for the group stage of the Champions League, after defeating Zagreb's Mladost 9:8 in the decisive match at the qualification tournament in Kragujevac after an incredible turnaround. The people of Kragujevo thus joined New Belgrade in an elite competition and will certainly have big ambitions.Uroš Stevanović's team did not excel in this tournament, they were behind in all three matches, but, most importantly, they managed to come back and win every time. BVSC led 9:6 at the start of the tournament, so Radnički achieved its first triumph with Duško Pijetlović's goal in the last seconds. A day later, Vuljagmeni took a 4:1 lead, and the home team would eventually celebrate with 14:13. However, Mladost from Zagreb had the biggest advantage, leading 4:0 after 12 minutes, and 8:3 in the third quarter.
At that moment, Radnički was very far from qualifying for the Champions League, which would represent a real disaster for one of the best teams in the competition. However, with patient play, Uroš Stevanović's team managed to reach 8:5 by the end of the third period, and then led by Nikola Jakšić to reach a complete turnaround of 9:8, and that was the final result.
Radnički will play in group B, which includes Jadran from Split, Ferencvaroš and Dinamo Tbilisi. In group A are Novi Beograd, Hanover, Oradea and Steaua, group C consists of Barcelona, Marseille, Vašaš and Jadran from Herceg Novi, while Olimpiakos, Savona, Primorac and Sabadelj are in group D.
