Mladost lost to BVSC
In the 2nd round of the qualifying tournament for the Champions League in Kragujevac, the BVSC team from Budapest defeated our representative, Zagreb's Mladost, and thus made the situation in this group even more complicated.
In fact, it was expected that Sunday's match between Mladost and the hosts Radnički would decide the first place. That can still happen, but now the Hungarian team is also 'in the game'. Namely, if BVSC wins in the 3rd round against the Vouliagmeni team, and Mladost defeats the hosts from Kragujevac, a round of three teams with the same number of points would be created. Then the mutual ratio or goal difference decides. More precisely, Mladost needs a victory of 2 goals.
As for Saturday's match in Kragujevac, BVSC turned out to be a very dangerous, strong opponent, as expected. A day earlier, they almost missed a victory against Radnički after they had a 9:6 lead after three quarters, only to lose 10:9. Now, in the last minutes, more precisely in the last 12 minutes of the match, the Hungarians were more composed, calmer, better. With an unusually good release by one player – Zsombor Ekler, who scored 8 goals himself! Two of them from the five.
A lot of conceded goals in the first quarter, and then in the entire match, cost the youth team a defeat. On two occasions, the Zagreb team had an advantage of 2 goals (7:5 and 10:8), but on both occasions the BVSC players, especially Ekler, equalized. The key was the third quarter when, after Buljubasic's goal to give the youngsters a 10:8 lead, in the remaining four minutes to the end of the period, BVSC scored 4 goals. Eclair three of them. The Hungarians turned it in their favor (10:12).
They didn't stop there, five and a half minutes before the end Ekler scored for an even bigger lead (10:13). There were three differences with three minutes to go (11:14), after which Kharkiv only softened the defeat with two goals.
On Sunday at 20:00, Mladost will play against Radnički in the crucial match of the 3rd round of the qualifying tournament.
