A1 M – De Akker second in the Dennerlein trophy, the championship starts with Recco Waterpolo

Three important days experienced by Federico Mistrangelo's De Akker in the "Fritz Dennerlein" tournament in Vico Equense, a municipality in the metropolitan city of Naples, and closed with the final this morning lost with CN Posillipo 12-6.

On Wednesday, after seven hours of travel, just 45 minutes after arriving in Naples, the team faced the hosts of CN Posillipo. An uphill start, down 5-0 in the first half, then the return leg, but in the first match they lost 12-8. The two matches with the Romans on Thursday, however, saw two victories: 12-7 against Vis Nova Roma and 10-6 against Olympic Roma, which gave Bologna the opportunity to meet Posillipo in the final, who also won against the two Lazio teams. Then the new defeat in the final. “A special thanks to the organizer of the event Andrea Scotti Galletta – said DS Arnaldo Deserti – for the courtesy and care he always shows towards us”.

An important tournament for Bologna, at the first official outing of the season, which will be followed from 15 to 17 September in Palermo by a series of joint training sessions, while the qualifying round of the Len Eurocup is scheduled from 27 to 29 September.

CHAMPIONSHIP. Two weeks later, on 12 October, the championship will start and the first away match at the home of Recco Waterpolo, to test the new company born from the great team that until a few months ago made the history of national and international water polo. The first home match at the Carmen Longo swimming pool will be on 19 October against Quinto, while the second away match will be in Palermo against Telimar. The Christmas break will be from December 21 to January 15, 2025, while the first round of 13 games will end on January 18. The first eight qualified teams will play the Coppa Italia, while the championship will end on April 19 to start the play-offs.

At the end of the match in Naples, De Akker coach Federico Mistrangelo said: "We had a bad start, also due to the trip. Posillipo showed greater compactness and the fact that they are a well-oiled team. We rotated everyone, even the youngest. The American Abramson had only trained with us for a couple of times, but both he and the Dutchman Rouwenhorst did well on an individual level. I told the boys to play carefree and so it was, still managing to win against the two Roman teams. As a first outing it went well, considering all the extenuating circumstances. As far as the championship is concerned, Recco cannot be considered new. Instead of fifteen champions, it has eleven with some young players, so it remains prohibitive. The first home game against Quinto, however, will be a good test because it is a club in our category with the same ambitions”.
