A1 M – The championship without Di Fulvio and Generini will start on October 12
The calendars and dates of the new season have been made official, starting on October 12, 2024, Minetti's Florentia has returned to the pool in Bellariva for the 106th preparation in its history, the 102nd in the top division. An enthusiastic return to the banks of the Arno for mister Luca Minetti, in his fifth consecutive year at the helm of the red and whites, after eight seasons in the youth teams, marked by the confirmation of the invincible group from last season's ride, which ended with zero defeats, and by the arrival on the banks of the Arno of Giacomo Bini and the Dutch Niels Hofmeijer, born in 2000, coming from the United States after a past in the orange youth teams with Het Ravijn.
A return, that of Bini after four years in Trieste and a gamble for two important farewells, those of captain Andrea Di Fulvio and the very faithful Giovanni Generini, both determined to hang up their caps to dedicate themselves respectively to family and work after over twenty years of competitive activity.
ANDREA DI FULVIO class of 1988 Florentine by adoption since 2007, Andrea di Fulvio says goodbye to water polo as a great protagonist after a career full of successes at youth level with Pescara and with the great Sport Management, before returning to Florence to experience the two promotions to A1, the last as captain. Brother of Francesco with whom he shared only one season on the banks of the Arno, he leaves the family legacy to his other brother Carlo, in Florence since last year.
GIOVANNI GENERINI Florentine and Rarino DOC, class of 1994, thanks to the teachings of the great Dusan Popovic, he made his debut in A1 with Rari Nantes Florentia at just 17 years old. From there, a beautiful seven-year journey with the red and white cap, with a one-year interlude in Genoa with Nervi, before returning to the banks of the Arno, before moving to Catania, where he spent three seasons in the top division with the cap of the Etna city. In the last two seasons he has accepted and won the challenge of bringing Florentia back to Serie A1, before deciding last July to leave playing water polo.
