Pescara N and PN's coup. Gigi Foglio arrives in white and blue
Gianluigi Foglio is a new player for Pescara Nuoto e Pallanuoto. The Delfino roster is starting to take shape, and after announcing the arrival of coach Paolo Baiardini, they have made their first transfer coup official. A move sought by the Club of President Stefania Scolta, cultivated by the work of DS Giampiero Lattanzio and made possible also thanks to the relationship between Foglio himself and Mister Baiardini. The two have in fact worked together in the last two years in Bari, coming close to making the jump to A2 in the season just gone, which only faded in game-3 of the play-offs.
Gigi Foglio is a luxury for the category: 29 years old, a centre-back, during his long career he also wore the Settebello cap in 2015, under the management of Campagna-Pomilio. Three years earlier, still with Amedeo Pomilio on the bench, he won the gold medal at the Under 18 World Cup in Australia. From 2012 to 2018 he played with Posillipo in A1, winning a Len Cup. After a stop, in the post-covid period he resumed his competitive activity and now he arrives in Pescara in the project that aims to jump in category.
“I come here above all for the project that the Club illustrated to me” explains the player. “I spoke with mister Baiardini and his collaborator Alessandra Suma, who convinced me in the choice. I worked very well with them in Bari and I am convinced that we can do the same here. Objective? Do well and try to return to A2. The same that the Club has in mind”.
On the purchase of Foglio, the sports director Giampiero Lattanzio also intervenes: “I am very happy with his arrival. A player that I have been following for a long time, that I have courted for a long time and that we have finally managed to bring to the white and blue”. And again: “I am convinced that he will be a fundamental pawn not only in the pool, but also as a team player. An athlete who in recent years has been able to relaunch himself in a big way, attracting the interest of A1 teams. But he chose Pescara, embracing the ambitious white and blue project”.
