Defeat against the Germans, juniors in a duel for seventh place in Europe
The Serbian youth team will play in the seventh place match on the last day of the European Under-19 Championship in Burgas.
Today, in the consolation semi-final for placing from 5th to 8th place, the young "Dolphins" lost against Germany - 10:13 (2:3, 2:2, 3:5,3:3).
A few days ago, Serbia convincingly defeated the Germans 10:4 in the group competition. However, the very good selection of Germany, with coach Nebojš Novoselc, which, like Serbia, was very close to the semi-finals (it lost to Hungary in the quarter-finals by only a goal difference), seems to have entered today's match with several motives. This is understandable to some extent, given that the ambitions of Germany and Serbia in Burgas were different. After very good editions in the competition in the group, yesterday's five-a-side defeat against Montenegro left its mark on the Serbian team.
Serbia led only once – 1:0 in the second minute. The Germans, with two goals and a player, quickly turned it around to 2:1. After that, Miloš Korolija's team chased the rival, they equalized several times (2:2, 3:3, 5:5, 6:6). In the middle of the third quarter, the Germans scored three goals for a 9:6 lead. The Serbian players managed to get close at the beginning of the fourth part (9:10), but the Germans responded with a new series of 3:0, going to 13:9. Our team did not manage to return to the match once again.
The Serbian national team played in the composition: Dimković, Bodiroga, Ilić, Dončić, Anđelić 1, Gladović 3, Antić, Đokanović 2, Danković 2, Jauković 1, Krstić, Novaković 1, Savić.
In the duel for seventh place, Serbia's rival will be defeated in the match between Greece and Italy.
Nebojša Obradović led Turkey to 10th place. His team lost to the Netherlands 12:10 in the match for ninth place.
