Water polo Serbia - Serbia Water Polo: EP (U19) Serbia defeated by Montenegro by five points

Serbian water polo players up to 19 years old were eliminated from the medal combinations at the European Championship in Burgas. Unexpectedly, as the first in the group, Serbia was defeated by Montenegro, which won out of four points against the Netherlands. Montenegro beat the Serbian team 18:17 (1:4, 4:2, 5:4, 3:3, 5:4).

The first quarter confirmed Serbia as the favorite in this match. With a better game, Serbia led 4:1 at the beginning of the second quarter and 5:1 before slowly starting to give way. In the third part, Serbia, led by the cheerful Gladović, still had a 7:5 advantage, but the Montenegrins, with the excellent Stupar and Gojković, found a way to get back into the game. With the score 7:7, the goal-for-goal game began. In the last eight minutes, Montenegro had a minimal advantage three times, but Novaković and twice Đokanović managed to take the game into the top five.

Djokanović, who equalized 21 seconds before the end and then blocked a shot from Samardžić, was the tragic figure in the five-point series. In the first shot, goalkeeper Bjelica was more successful, and in the sixth series he repeated the first shot. Serbia continues the competition by fighting for fifth place.

Serbia: Dimković, Bodiroga 2, Kojić, Dončić, Anđelić, Gladović 5, Antić, Đokanović 2, Danković 1, Jauković 1, Krstić 2, Novaković 4, Savić.
