Valis gathered the team for the new season: The youngest team in the Premier League, the captain moved to Šabac
Valis water polo players achieved great results in the previous season, they qualified for the Premier regional league, they took fifth place in the Super League of Serbia and will play in the European Cup qualifiers.
In the absence of first coach Miloš Saković, who is currently in Indonesia at water polo camps, Valjevci have been preparing under the supervision of coach Luka Petrić since mid-August. Compared to the excellent previous season, Valis has undergone major changes in its composition, and as Saković points out for the Valjevska posla portal, this club will have the youngest composition in a very strong regional competition.
Srđan Baucalo, Matija Vlahović, Veljko Krstić, Zoran Poznanović and Danilo Čabrilo remained in Valjevo, while the current captain of the team, Aleksandar Kovačević, will continue his career in Šabac.
In addition to Petar Stanić, who returned to Valis from Šabac, the new names are the Iranians Sejederfan and Alireza, who came to the club based on cooperation with the national team of this country led by the Serbian expert, Dejan Milaković, then Nemanja Radovanlija (Vojvodina), Marko Tubić (Posilipo), Nikola Bućan (Lazio), Vuk Kojić (Radnički), Radosav Virijević (Radnički), Dušan Aleksandrov (Taš) and Noa Burburan (Solaris).
A group of younger players led by Sergej Barać, Marko Arsić and Aleksandar Ninović and other boys joined the first team, who will be included in the work process of the senior team in order to adequately prepare for the future.
- We have decided to focus on younger players, respecting the financial situation in the club. We will have the youngest squad in the Premier League and at the same time the smallest budget in this group of clubs with great traditions and showcases full of trophies. Whether we are weaker compared to last year or not, we will be able to say only at the end of this season. This is a great chance for the young men who came and who we plan, if everything goes well and if they confirm their quality, to sign longer contracts with Valis - says Saković and adds:
– With some players from last season we did not meet in terms of the money they were looking for and some decided to make a step towards environments with greater ambitions. I'm primarily referring to Aleksandar Kovačević, who decided to go to Šabac after the end of his contract and try out for a well-organized club that is aiming for a place in the Champions League. We wish him all the best because our captain deserved to play in a stronger environment. We are working hard on the preparations, we hope that the infrastructure will also be better where, primarily, I think that the pumps that were promised and will regulate the water temperature will finally be installed - said the head of the professional staff of Valis, Miloš Saković for the portal Valjevska business.
The news is that the Premier League, which most likely starts on September 21, will be played according to the double point system, so Valis under the SRC "Petnica" banner will host all the strongest clubs in the region, such as Jug (Dubrovnik), Jadran (Split ), Jadran (Herceg Novi), New Belgrade, Mladost (Zagreb)...
After the end of the Premier League, Valis returns to the Super League of Serbia, where he will directly participate in the playoffs. As for the LEN Eurocup qualifiers, they are scheduled for September 27, with the draw not yet made. Therefore, an extremely busy season awaits Valis, and water polo fans will have the privilege of seeing the cream of regional club water polo in "Petnica".
