Jakšić and officially in Radničko: A breakthrough in his career and a chance for progress
The biggest transfer bomb of this summer on the European water polo scene resonated in Kragujevac, with the transfer of one of today's best players, the captain of the Serbian national team and three-time Olympic champion, Nikola Jakšić, from Novi Belgrade to Radnička.
Even though he is only twenty-seven years old, Jakšić has enormous playing experience behind him, both on the club and national team scene, and there is no competition that he has not won. He grew up in Partizan, then defended the colors of Hungarian Ferencvaros for four seasons and Novi Belgrade for three. With Ferencvaros, he won the Champions League, the European Cup and the European Super Cup twice, and he was on the podium several times in the domestic championships and cups of Serbia and Hungary.
He established himself in the senior national team of Serbia as soon as he came of age and already on his debut became the world champion in Kazan in 2015. He won his first Olympic gold at the age of 19, in Rio, and eight years later entered the legendary and select company of three-time Olympic water polo champions. In addition to the mentioned medals, with Serbia he also won two European Championships, two World Leagues, the Mediterranean Games, the Universiade...
- I think that with this signing I have made a step forward in my career, which will bring me continuity and excellent work, as well as a chance for progress. I am convinced that with my qualities I will help Radničko to continue to fulfill the already set goals - said Jakšić.
The Kragujevac club will thus have five "golden dolphins" from Paris in its ranks, as Radoslav Filipović, Strahinja Rašović, Radomir Drašović and Nikola's younger brother Petar Jakšić arrived earlier.
- Fitting in will not be a problem, because I have teammates from the Serbian national team as well as a coach who knows and appreciates my qualities. I am glad that Radnički has a trend of attitude towards Serbian players that they deserve and I believe that in Serbian water polo there will be more and more domestic representatives, so that we can create the best possible future for the kids who are coming. Greetings to all the people of Šumadija and I hope to see you at the swimming pool - concluded Jakšić.
