Paralympics - Napoli to host the Scudetto Final Four
The V Paralympic Italian Water Polo Championship, the flagship event of the season organized by the Italian Paralympic Swimming Federation (FINP), will take place on Saturday, June 14, and Sunday, June 15 at the Federal Technical Center, "Felice Scandone" pool in Naples.
The four best teams from the Gold Group, qualified at the end of the regular season, will compete for the national title: GLS Napoli Lions, Rari Nantes Florentia, SS Lazio Nuoto, and Dhea Sport.
These four teams have already faced each other in the two preliminary rounds held in April in Florence and in May in Genoa. These crucial stages saw Rari Nantes Florentia, coached by Laura Perego, shine brightly, dominating both phases with an unstoppable march: 24 points, 123 goals scored, and 67 goals conceded. This stellar performance places the team among the favorites for the title, although the competition promises to be wide open.
Competing for the throne is GLS Napoli Lions, the defending champion and host team, the only team to have won two Scudetti in the young history of the championship. The Neapolitan team will aim to leverage the home crowd support to repeat last year's success and maintain their leadership.
There is also great anticipation for SS Lazio Nuoto and Dhea Sport, two solid and well-structured realities ready to surprise and carve out a leading role in what promises to be a spectacular Final Four.
On its part, Rari Nantes Florentia comes to the event with a history of success: one Scudetto, four consecutive Italian Cups, and an Italian Super Cup, making it the most successful club in FINP's Paralympic water polo history. This accolade attests to the soundness of a sports project built on competence, inclusivity, and team spirit.
Besides the championship at stake, the event represents a strong message of inclusion, participation, and sharing. Paralympic water polo, increasingly followed and appreciated, continues to grow thanks to the athletes' passion, the work of the clubs, and the support of sports institutions.
