Final Weeks; Het Ravijn wins exciting first quarterfinal against UZSC | Polar Bears and GZC Donk secure victories

Tonight, the women of Het Ravijn, Polar Bears, and GZC Donk won the first quarterfinals of the playoffs. The ladies of ZV De Ham ZC played in the Nordic League, so the team from Krommenie will play against ZV De Zaan next weekend. GZC Donk won with a score of 24-8 against PSV in the Groenhovenbad. In Ede, Polar Bears secured a 21-5 victory over ZVL-1886.

The fourth-placed team in the regular season, Het Ravijn, managed to win narrowly against UZSC in an exciting match. The final score was 12-11 (3-2, 1-2, 5-1, 3-6) with Polina Synytsia performing strongly in goal and referees Henk Smit and Robert Nederlof at poolside.

Key goal scorers for the home team were youth international Amy Kleinlugtebeld (4), Iris Vreeling (2), Annefleur Ten Bloemendaal, Lotte Schreurs, Margreet ter Schure, Kari Ankoné, and captain Susan de Vries (all with 1 goal each). For UZSC, Sterre Bijkerk (3), Anne van Rossum, Sam Jutte, and Hanna Hogervorst (2 each), Marit Borgts, Myrthe Broekmate, Isis Keijzer, and Anne van Rossum (1 each) found the net.

In their home turf, the team coached by Sander Roelofs took a 2-0 lead courtesy of two goals by youth international Kleinlugtebeld. The Utrecht women quickly responded with a goal by Jutte to make it 2-1, followed by Van Rossum equalizing the score. The teams went neck to neck in the entertaining first and second periods.

The second half started with a 4-4 tie, and led by captain Susan de Vries, Het Ravijn got off to a good start. The Nijverdallers were clinical in front of the goal in the third period, extending their lead from 5-4 to 9-5. The final period saw UZSC mounting a strong comeback from 10-5 to 11-9. In the last two minutes, Het Ravijn widened the gap to three, making UZSC’s last two goals come a bit too late. Tomorrow, the women will have a rematch in Utrecht.
