A1 M – TeLiMar announces the hiring of the Ligurian explosive Pietro Mangiante
A little less than a month from the start of preparation for the 2024/2025 Serie A1 Championship, which will start on October 12, the TeLiMar Palermo announces the hiring of Pietro Mangiante, a young Italian water polo talent. Born in 2003, coming from Rari Nantes Camogli, he is a pure counterattacker, gifted with a good shot.
Mangiante began his club career with Chiavari Nuoto, where he played for two years in Serie B, very young at 15 and 16, under the guidance of coach Andrea Pisano. In 2020, at just 17 years old, he gained experience in the first team of Pro Recco, between Serie A1 and the Italian Cup. In the same season he won the Under 18 Scudetto in Monterotondo. In 2021 he returned to Chiavari, significantly contributing to the promotion to A2, becoming top scorer in all the Serie B groups. The following year, he played in Serie A2, again among the ranks of Chiavari Nuoto, coached by Robert Dinu. Last season, however, he played in A1 for Rari Nantes Camogli, led by Angelo Temellini.
At a national level, Mangiante was called up to the Azzurri team in the 2018/2019 season by the late coach Nando Pesci, under age compared to his Azzurri teammates, all born in 2002. Subsequently, in 2021, he was part of the Under 19 national team, participating to a common training with Greece.
Pietro Mangiante, new acquisition of TeLiMar: “I am proud to have joined a prestigious and strong company like TeLiMar. I thank President Marcello Giliberti and coach Gu Baldineti for the trust they have placed in me, a trust that I intend to repay by making all my energy available to the team. I can't wait to get started, to learn as much as possible from the coach, my teammates and the club, as well as getting to know the city. I have embraced the President's sports project with total enthusiasm, confident that I will be able to make my contribution and that I will be able to grow here in Palermo, where I will continue my university studies in management engineering, both as a water polo player and as a man. In Palermo I meet up with old teammates and players for whom I have great respect, to whom I will subjugate my aggression and my daily commitment. I am sure that this team can and must do well."
Gu Baldineti, TeLiMar coach: "Pietro is a young defender gifted with great swimming, who can be both a center scorer and play in an external 1/2 or 4/5 position, continuing the tradition of the Mangiante family, of great water polo players. With a major market operation, carried out with great timeliness and decision-making ability, TeLiMar managed to acquire the player's contract permanently, ensuring the performances of this very capable young player for at least the next four years".
Marcello Giliberti, President of TeLiMar: "With Alessandro Vitale we are agreeing on how to terminate the multi-year contract currently in place early, to allow him to return to Rome, where he needs to return to complete his studies and start your own business. To replace him, we have signed the feisty Pietro Mangiante on a four-year contract, on whom both coach Baldineti and I personally place great expectations. He is a highly motivated boy, with great margins for further growth, being just 21 years old, and with perfectly suitable technical characteristics to be able to quickly adapt to our coach's technical-tactical schemes. My Club will have the pleasure of supporting Pietro also in his university studies career, giving him adequate support also at UniPa. I think I managed to make a great market coup in the 'Cesarini area'."
