Attila Monostori, four-time national champion of Romania with CSM Oradea, has passed away at the age of 54.
According to the Hungarian specialized press, the former great water polo player passed away on Saturday (08.03), just a few weeks after celebrating his birthday.
Monostori was a World Cup winner, a two-time European Championship silver medalist, and competed in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, earning 114 caps for the Hungarian national team.
At the club level, he played for Hungary's strongest teams before moving to Italy, where he played for Pro Recco, Bologna, and Savona.
With CSM Oradea, he won four Romanian national championship titles (2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012).
