RFEN presents Jordi Valls as the new Spanish women's water polo coach for the 2025-28 cycle
Jordi Valls Nart (Terrassa, 1977) has been appointed by RFEN Aquatics as the new head coach of the Spanish women's water polo team for the 2025-2028 Olympic cycle, which will culminate at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Valls will be officially presented tomorrow at the CAR (High-Performance Center) in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona) at 12:30 PM in an event open to all media.
The coach from Vallès Occidental has been part of the most successful period in Spanish women's water polo history, serving as assistant coach to Miki Oca and the Spanish women's technical staff. This golden era peaked with Spain's gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, following two silver medals at London 2012 and Tokyo 2020, as well as the historic gold at the 2013 World Championships in Barcelona.
Before his prolific tenure with RFEN, Jordi Valls—who holds a degree in Physical Education and is a certified Senior Swimming Coach—was in charge of the Women's Development Team at the Catalan Swimming Federation (FCN) in 2004. He also served as assistant coach of the men's team at Club Natació Terrassa (2006-08), coached the Catalan Federation's U12 girls' team (2011), and was the assistant coach of the Spanish women's national team from 2009 to 2024.
At the youth level, he led Spain’s U20 teams to gold medals at the World Championships in Trieste (2011) and Netanya (2021), as well as securing the U19 European Championship title in Funchal (2018), among other achievements.
In January 2025, he temporarily took charge of the senior national team during the first phase of the World League in Alexandroupolis (Greece), where Spain secured first place, earning qualification for the Super Final in April—by which time Jordi Valls had officially assumed the role of head coach.
