Tournaments - La Rari Nantes Sori concludes its Nordic League group in second place and qualifies for the Tenerife Final Eight
The team of Molina begins its European adventure by defeating Sporting Lisbon from Portugal 19-11. The team took a lead of 9-3 at halftime and then managed the advantage in the second part of the match.
In the second game, the hosts prevailed over Vilnius Delfinas with a score of 15-6. The first two quarters were fairly balanced with Monari and his teammates not immediately making a big difference. In the third quarter, the team from Sori scored a 6-1 partial that directed the match.
Already qualified, Rari Nantes Sori faced Hannover White Sharks for the top spot but suffered a 13-11 defeat. The first two periods were even, with the Germans ahead by just one goal. In the third quarter, the visitors surged ahead decisively, and the 4-2 final quarter was not enough to reverse the result.
The team will now face Galatasaray in the quarter-finals on May 30th in Tenerife.
βIt was great to be able to compete internationally,β said Willy Molina. βI am pleased with the way the boys approached this tournament, gaining experience and increasing their cohesion. Now we calmly prepare to face Galatasaray, but first, we have a championship to finish well, starting with the next match against Como Nuoto.β
