The Asia Water Polo Championship, set to start on February 25, serves as a qualifier for the 2025 World Swimming Championships in Singapore, with the top 2 teams qualifying for the event.

The Japanese Women's Water Polo National Team, riding high after their victory over China in the Water Polo World Cup Division 2 last year, sets their sights on winning this tournament as well.

Prior to this, the team held an open training session for the press at the National Institute of Sports Science on February 21.

Coach Shota Hazui mentioned, "We have adopted the slogan 'courageously and valiantly' with the meaning of confronting challenges bravely through our coaching strategies and group work of the players. We aim to secure our spot in the Olympics on our own merit and become a team that many women aspire to be as athletes. We were able to beat China in the World Cup, and now we target victory in this Asia Water Polo Championship. We will set clear goals step by step and strive towards the major goal of the Los Angeles Olympics."
