ZPB Dutch Champion D'tjes
End The 2022-2023 season ended this weekend with the (unofficial) National Championships for D's. In a packed Inge de Bruijn swimming pool in Barendrecht, home club ZPB became champions.
All participants had a wonderful weekend with packed stands and a traditional ZPB party atmosphere, especially on Sunday. Fun, excitement and fanaticism alternated well.
Six teams competed for the title. In group A these were ZPB, ZPC Amersfoort and De Ham. Group B was formed by ZV De Zaan, ZVL-1886 and PSV. ZPB and ZV De Zaan became group leaders. They played their semi-finals on Sunday against ZVL-1886 and ZPC Amersfoort respectively. ZPB won convincingly against the team from Leiden (17-2), but the other semi-final was a lot more exciting. In the end, ZV De Zaan narrowly won: 6-5.
The match for fifth place was just as exciting. This is where PSV became the lucky one. The Eindhoven team won 5-6 against De Ham. ZPC Amersfoort captured the bronze at the expense of ZVL-1886 (6-13) and the gold went to the Barendrechters after an exciting final between ZPB and ZV De Zaan: 10-8.
