Bea Ortiz, Total Player Award and five Spanish players in the TOP-10
Another recognition for Spanish water polo after an outstanding 2024. A year in which the Olympic gold was finally won after defeating Australia at the Paris Aquatics Center. A year in which our women's team touched glory and also added a bronze at the World Championships in Doha and a silver at the European Championships in Eindhoven. Five Spanish water polo players have been selected in the prestigious TOP-10 Total Player Award, an award given by the Total Waterpolo portal. The selection was made by captains, coaches, and specialized journalists.
Bea Ortiz clinched the award with an impressive 124 points, ahead of her teammate and compatriot Maica García (56). In sixth place, we find Elena Ruiz (31) and Judith Forca in seventh (30). Wrapping up the TOP-10 is Anni Espar with 20 points.
In the male category of the Total Player Award 2024, a Spanish international player, Álvaro Granados (CN Atlètic Barceloneta), appears in the starting lineup and ranks as the sixth most voted player. He was crucial in Spain's gold medal win in Croatia.
