Morgan Allison-Prokhin Named Long Island University Water Polo Head Coach
BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Long Island University Director of Athletics Elliott Charles named Morgan Allison-Prokhin head coach of the men’s and women’s water polo teams, removing the interim tag from the former assistant.
“I am excited and honored to be appointed as the head coach of Long Island University’s men’s and women’s water polo teams,” said Allison-Prokhin. “I look forward to continuing to work with these talented student-athletes and helping them achieve success both in and out of the pool. It is a privilege to represent Long Island University and to continue building both programs.”
Allison-Prokhin previously served as assistant coach for the men’s and women’s teams at St. Francis College Brooklyn during the 2022-23 academic year. Under her leadership, the Terriers’ women posted their best season record since 2009. Her duties included assisting with all aspects of the recruiting process, coordinating team travel, supervising practice sessions, and mentoring student-athletes to foster both athletic and academic growth.
Since joining LIU, the women’s team went 22-7 last season and finished 10-2 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play.
As the interim head coach during the Fall 2024 season following the resignation of predecessor Gabrielle Juarez, she guided the LIU men’s team to a 10-23 record and a sixth place finish at the 2024 Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Championship hosted by Princeton University.
“We are excited to have Coach Allison-Prokhin lead our water polo programs and proud of the impact that she continues to have on our student-athletes,” Charles said.
A native of Perkasie, Pennsylvania, Allison-Prokhin was a two-sport athlete at St. Francis Brooklyn, competing for both the women’s water polo and swimming and diving teams. She was named president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and earned multiple MAAC and Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-Academic Team honors.
She graduated in 2017 with a degree in communications, concentrating in public relations and advertising, and a minor in sports management.
