A2 M - Aquachiara narrowly loses heated derby to GLS Napoli Lions
Aquachiara suffers its third defeat of the season, losing 12-11 to GLS Napoli Lions in the match valid for the sixth round of the South group of the Serie A2 water polo championship. The game was decided by a 3-0 run that the white-capped team achieved shortly after the half-time break, with Barela's swift goal and penalty shots converted by Telese and Ruocco. The Aquachiara team fought back against adversity, reducing the gap to -1 with a powerful shot by De Florio and a successful counterattack by Varavallo. However, a goal by former player Julien Lanfranco extended the lead to +2 for the home team with less than three minutes remaining. Despite Nazzaro's attempt to score the 12-11, the final pushing by Aquachiara didn't produce the desired results, and the victory went to the home team. The match was marked by an early and naive expulsion of Hadzic for foul play, and Aquachiara's captain De Gregorio and his teammates struggled to adapt to the heated atmosphere, not performing at the level of their previous game. The Christmas break comes at a good time for the team, allowing them to work on their growth, the main goal for the season, and prepare for the next game against Rari Nantes Salerno scheduled for December 11.
