A1 M - Vis Nova defeated by Savona in the final sprint

In the final dash, Savona stepped on the gas and flew to victory. In the tenth round of A1 series, Roma Vis Nova was defeated by 12-6, a score that deceives considering how the match unfolded. Vis Nova held its ground, fought, and even came back from the 5-1 lead of the Ligurians to reach 6-6 by the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter was a different story with Savona marshalling a 6-0 run, a heavy setback considering how the game went, and that was the end of it. Experience, strength, determination, a team that had to struggle against a good Roma side. A true pity, but in the final sprint, the Ligurians were superior. The third consecutive defeat for the Romans, who, however, keep an optimistic view on the standings (Vis is still in fourth place), although there is still a long way to go and work to be done. Certainly, this was not the game to win, but they must be ready for January when the direct clashes will arrive. Analysis from one of the pillars, Andrea Poli: "We made a lot of mistakes in the last quarter; until the third, we pushed and showed that we could play on par, then at the end, they stepped up and pulled away. Credit to Savona, not a fault of ours, we could have maybe made fewer errors. Compared to last year, we play more evenly with these teams, and the standings prove it, our position is deserved, but we can still do better. The penalty kick? I already knew I would take it and also where to aim." Next Saturday, they will go to Recco for the last game of 2024.
