Radnički wins against Red Star in a dramatic finish
In the first match of the tenth round of the Premier Regional League, Radnički water polo team won against Red Star in Belgrade with a score of 14:13, after an intense finish and a comeback. Tonight, the Croatian derby between Jadran Split and Mladost Zagreb is scheduled, while the remaining four matches will be played on Saturday.
The residents of Kragujevac had a good start in the game with two goals from center Nikola Murišić, and the result mostly revolved around their lead of "plus two" in the first half. On the other hand, the former Radnički player Kristian Šulc brought Red Star back into the game a couple of times, but the guests still went into half-time with a two-goal advantage, after Strahinja Rašović's goal - 10:8.
Then, the same player was precise at the beginning of the second half, giving his team a three-goal lead for the first time (11:8). Just when it seemed that the people from Šumadija had broken the resistance of their opponents, the team from Belgrade managed to complete a full comeback. They scored four consecutive goals, with Rodoljub Gajić scoring twice, and Relja Danković and Kristian Šulc scoring once each, bringing the score to 12:11, 25 seconds before the end of the third quarter.
Then, Uroš Stevanović's players were once again precise at the sound of the buzzer, this time through Jakšić, to tie the match at 12:12 before the decisive period.
Šulc then gave Red Star the lead again (13:12), but Lazar Vićković responded with two goals that proved to be enough for the win. Half a minute before the end, Red Star had an attack with two extra players, but goalkeeper Radoslav Filipović stopped Aleksandar Radanović's shot.
The most efficient player of the match was Red Star's goal scorer Krisitan Šulc with six goals, while in the winning team, former Red Star players Strahinja Rašović scored four goals, and Lazar Vićković scored three.
