Euro Cups Draw: Novi Beograd, Radnički, and Šabac to Face Regional Rivals Again

The draws for the quarterfinal groups of the Champions League and the round of 16 of the Men's Euro Cup were determined today in Zagreb. In the second part of the season on the European scene, three Serbian clubs will be playing, all of them set to face rivals from the Regional League.

Champions League, quarterfinal groups

The champion of Serbia and the Regional League, Novi Beograd, has been placed in a group alongside Split's Jadran, Marseille, and Olympiacos. The Croatian and French clubs finished first in their groups, while Olympiacos, just like Novi Beograd, entered this phase from the top position. Živko Gocić's team has been undefeated so far in all competitions, with one of the toughest matches being against Jadran in the second round of the Regional League, where they secured two points after penalties.

Group A

Novi Beograd
Jadran Split
Marseille
Olympiacos

Group B

Oradea
Ferencváros
Savona
Barceloneta

The first round will take place on February 4th and 5th.

Euro Cup, round of 16

Radnički, the third-placed team in Group C of the Champions League, continues their journey in the Euro Cup with a match against the familiar opponent, Dubrovnik's Jug. The two teams met once this season in late November in Dubrovnik as part of the Regional League, where Uroš Stevanović's team displayed one of their best performances of the season and won 17-10. Jug finished second in their Euro Cup group, behind Brescia.

Šabac's opponent in the round of 16, who reached this stage as the second-placed team in Group D of the Euro Cup, will be the Montenegrin vice-champion, Jadran from Herceg Novi. Šabac and Jadran have already met this season in the Regional League, with Nemanja Ličanin's team securing three points with a 6-5 victory in a tough match in Šabac.

The round of 16 matches will take place on January 25th and February 6th. Radnički will be the away team in the first leg, while Šabac will host Jadran on January 25th.

When it comes to other clubs where Serbian coaches work, Zagreb's Mladost, recently taken over by Igor Milanović, like Šabac, was in the fourth seed and got lucky with their draw, being paired with Steaua. Pro Reko, with Miloš Ćirić, is expected to be the favorite in the match against Dinamo Tbilisi. Slobodan Nikić's Vasas will face Barcelona.

Jug – Radnički
Šabac – Jadran HN
Mladost – Steaua
Oradea – Sabadell
Barcelona – Vasas
Waspo 98 Hannover – Brescia
Pro Reko – Dinamo Tbilisi
BVSC – Primorac Kotor
