A2 M - C.N. Salerno-Giorgini Ottica Muri Antichi 8-19
The first three points finally arrive for Giorgini Ottica Muri Antichi and they conquer them convincingly with a landslide victory against Circolo Nautico Salerno. It was an undisputed game won by Coach Scebba's team, who, with an excellent approach to the match, immediately directed the momentum in their favor. A reaction of pride was expected and indeed it occurred, with Giorgini being clever this time to capitalize on the majority of the opportunities created and able to maintain a high pace from the first to the last minute of the game. With these well-deserved three points, Muri Antichi climb the rankings and can approach the next match before the Christmas break in the best possible way.
THE MATCH. The first quarter starts as hoped: excellent concentration, few mistakes, and great efficiency in the attack. Marangolo opens the score with Costa equalizing. However, Muri Antichi manages to quickly extend their lead with goals from Belfiore and two consecutive goals from Basile. In the second quarter, the good moment continues for Scebba's boys, this time Marangolo with two precise goals brings Giorgini to 1-6. Circolo Nautico tries to stay in the game with two penalties converted by Luongo and Fileno in the last second of the quarter, but Nicolosi from very far away and Tkac alone in front of Martucci allow Muri to head into the third quarter with a reassuring +5. Giorgini Ottica remains in full control of the game in the third quarter: Belfiore is precise again and puts the score at 3-9, Fileno shortens the distance with a man-up goal, but Muri does not want to give any advantages to the opponents with Tkac scoring directly from a penalty shot and Lanto scoring from close range on an assist from Marangolo. The latter continues to provide assists, this time for Nicolosi who scores an empty-net goal. Giorgini seals the victory in the fourth quarter with excellent attacking percentages, allowing Scebba's team to take home the first three points of the season with a deserved and final score of 8-19.
INTERVIEWS. “I am very happy for the boys, for Aurelio Scebba and his staff, and for all of us – declares Luigi Spinnicchia, the president, at the end of the match -. We deserved such a convincing victory after all the work done day after day for months. I am certain, as stated before the match, that this game will represent a positive turning point in our championship. Everyone contributed greatly, and morale will be at its peak for the upcoming commitments. Keep it up”.
“We had to win, we needed this, and we told ourselves this several times during the week – the words of Coach Aurelio Scebba – we simplified what we couldn’t do last week and changed our approach to the match. The team needed reassurance, and I am convinced that from now on we will be more aware of our abilities. It wasn't easy today, the boys were all exceptional. We have a Tkac who is improving game by game and making a difference. We also celebrate the first goal in Serie A2 for Marano and Lanto, which is a great joy for us”.
