Novi Beograd and Red Star through drama to new points in the Regional League
Serbian clubs celebrated victories in dramatic derby matches of the ninth round of the Premier regional league. Novi Beograd secured two points in a penalty shootout while playing away at Mladost in Zagreb, and Red Star defeated Primorac 12:10.
Throughout most of the match between Mladost and Novi Beograd, the teams were neck and neck in the race. Towards the end of the third quarter, Mladost gained a two-goal advantage. Two seconds before the final break, Harkov scored to make it 8:6. At the start of the fourth quarter, Andrija Bašić scored to make it 9:6. However, Igor Milanović's team could not maintain the lead. Novi Beograd rallied with a 3:0 streak to equalize. Vasilije Martinović scored to make it 9:9. In the remaining 48 seconds, there were no goals, leading to penalties. The first six series ended without goals. After 12 penalty shots on both sides, Novi Beograd's goalkeeper Milan Glušac saved Mislav Vrlić's shot, and Vasilije Martinović scored on the other end, allowing Živko Gocić's team to secure two points and continue their winning streak.
The goals for Novi Beograd were scored by: Vasilije Martinović with five goals, Dimitrios Skumpakis, Miloš Čuk, Đorđe Vučinić with three goals each, and Miroslav Perković and Nikola Lukić with one goal each.
Red Star dominated in the first quarter of the match against Primorac and took a 5:1 lead. The red and white team controlled the game until the final break, entering the last quarter with a 10:6 lead. They even had a lead of 11:5 at the start of the fourth quarter, but then allowed the visitors to score five consecutive goals, bringing the score to 10:11. Kristijan Šulc settled the matter with his third goal 42 seconds before the end, setting the final score at 12:10. Along with Šulc, goals for Red Star were scored by Miloš Vukićević, Aleksandar Radanović, Rodoljub Gajić with two goals each, Terens Smit, Relja Danković, Ivan Basara with one goal each.
