Collegiate Water Polo Association Releases Seeding for 2025 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship
2025 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship Schedule
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the seeding for the 2025 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship set for Friday-Sunday, December 7-9, at a site to be determined.
Per the championship rotation, the New York Division is slated to host in 2025 with the Southwest, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast and Northwest Divisions penciled in for 2026, 2027, 2028 and 2029, respectively. If the New York Division declines to host the rotation moves forward one year with the Southwest slated to host in 2025.
The Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship tournament is not seeded by ability, since there is no equitable means to determine the respective strength of the teams. Too few teams play outside of their division schedules to create an accurate seeding. Match-ups are therefore based upon the 2024 National Collegiate Club Championship results by division. The host region receives two automatic bids, one of which is assumed by the division champion and the other by the host site or division runner-up (the 16th position). This ensures the tournament host is always a participant.
Seeding for positions No. 1-11 is based on the results of the 2024 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship with the Southwest, Sierra Pacific, Pacific Coast, New England, Atlantic, Florida, Texas, Great Lakes, Rocky Mountain, Mid-Atlantic and Northwest Divisions holding the No. 1-to-11 berths in the field. Due to the University of Michigan forfeiting the 11th place game at the 2024 championship, the Big Ten Division is penalized with the lowest position among the 15 division champions – No. 15.
Due to the Big Ten Division receiving the No. 15 position, the No. 12-to-14 positions are awarded based on random draw with the New York Division, Southeast Division and Missouri Valley Divisions receiving the No. 12-to-14 berths, respectively.
