Victory in penalty shootout for Olympiacos with "goalkeeper" Georgzato, 14-11 against Savona in Italy
Olympiacos secured the first place in Group 4 of the LEN Champions League, winning away in a thrilling match against the Italian team Savona in a penalty shootout with a score of 14-11, in the context of the 6th round of the group stage.
The "red-and-whites" opened the scoring of the match with a goal from Gkilla (0-1), but the Italian team took the lead with three successful executions, going up 3-1 and maintaining the lead until the third quarter. There, Olympiacos managed to equalize with Dimou's goal (6-6), but the hosts responded immediately and went up by 3 points (9-6). In the middle of the fourth quarter, the team coached by Chroyie Kolianin increased the pace and with consecutive goals from Dimou, Gennidounia, and Papanastasiou brought the game back to a draw (11-11) and sent it into a penalty shootout.
It is worth noting that Savona played with one player less for 3:49 minutes due to the expulsion of Filyoli for violent conduct.
In the penalty shootout, Georgzatos saved all three attempts of Savona, while Olympiacos was successful in all three of their attempts, winning with a score of 14-11 and securing the first place in Group D.
