Women's National Team: Twenty-Two Players Start Preparing for the World Cup

The Hungarian women's national team is embarking on its preparation for the World Cup qualifiers in mid-January in Alexandropolis, Greece with a significantly rejuvenated squad. Cseh Sándor leads this phase with three goalkeepers and nineteen outfield players – five players from the team that competed in Paris, namely Keszthelyi Rita, Leimeter Dóra, Faragó Kamilla, Rybanska Natasa, and Neszmély Boglárka, have been invited this time.

“Each player has a different story, of course, trust is often pre-established, but I believe we are facing a very useful training camp,” said Cseh Sándor regarding the squad announcement. “Those who did not receive invitations this time – whether they belong to the younger or more experienced generation – can all expect attention because the squad will be open again from February. Despite the significant number of young players, I would not like to refer to the current squad as transitional or experimental at the moment; this is the Hungarian national team squad.”

The ladies will begin their preparations on December 11, training on Margaret Island throughout, then travel to Rotterdam from January 7-10 to sharpen their skills in a joint training camp with the Dutch ahead of the World Cup qualifier. The tournament in Greece kicks off on January 14, and our team has landed in the toughest group possible: facing the host Greeks, the Olympic champions from Spain, and the reigning world champions from the United States in the first round.
