A2 M - Torino wins the Vassallo battle

The season's home debut for the AGN Energia Bogliasco 1951 boys was not lucky.

Against the league leader Torino '81, the white and blue team lost 17-12 after a tense and fiercely fought match that was much closer than the final score suggests. The difference, as often happens in sports, was in the key moments. The guests managed to take advantage of every mistake made by the opponents, while the home team was too imprecise in attack and distracted in defense.

Not even the outstanding performances of Timothy Biallo, Alessandro Bottaro (named Mvp), and Edoardo Prian were enough to stop the Torino team. Even an excellent third quarter, in which Bogliasco managed to close the gap to two points after trailing for the entire match, was not sufficient.

Coach Gimmi Guidaldi of Liguria was very critical at the end of the match, expressing impatience with what he described as overly protagonistic refereeing: "Regardless of Torino's deserved victory, tonight's match was a disgraceful spectacle in my opinion. I cannot think differently in the face of a game where all the benches, coaches, and assistant coaches from both teams were expelled, while there were 35 ejections in the pool. I received a yellow card because the referee ordered me to close a door of the pool. I am a coach, not a lifeguard. My job is different. There are too many things wrong with this sport. Once again, we played without the presence of a delegate, so the referees can say and write whatever they want on the report. That being said, we lost the match ourselves. Now we have to roll up our sleeves and bounce back as soon as possible, possibly already on Saturday in Camogli."
