WATER POLO / WOMEN'S A1
They shared it all, Vouliagmeni NO and Olympiacos in the thrilling derby at Laimo (10-10)
A derby with everything at the Laimo swimming pool, a thrilling game for the 8th matchday in the Women's A1 National Water Polo Championship, with opponents the two teams that had no defeats so far in the championship and so they remained: Vouliagmeni NO and Olympiacos shared everything except...the victory (10-10) they passionately sought until the last second.
After a "poor" first half in terms of goals (2-2, with no goals in the second quarter), we enjoyed an amazing second half. Vouliagmeni NO managed to take a 9-6 lead early in the last period, but Olympiacos with goals from Ninou, Andriou, and Vasiliki Pleuritou at 01:08 before the end, managed to equalize. Eleftheria Fountotou gave the lead to NOV again at 00:44, but Maria Myriokefalitaki equalized instantly (00:29), with Marina Kotsioni making a miscalculation and admitting her mistake at the end. In fact, Olympiacos had their own last attack, lost it, and at the last moment Raikrou blocked Muhlhausen's long shot.
The match, which was broadcast live on ERT2, was watched among others by the president of the Hellenic Swimming Federation, Kyriakos Giannopoulos, and the national team coaches of the Women's team, Charis Pavlidis and Antonis Vlontakis.
