Men’s Water Polo Set To Face No. 3 Fordham On The First Round Of NCAA’s Championship


The Beach will face undefeated Fordham on December 6th.

LONG BEACH, Calif. The bracket for the 2024 NCAA Men's Water Polo tournament was announced on Monday morning, and the Beach are matched up with No. 3 Fordham, who earned the third seed after posting an unbeaten 30-0 record in the regular season. The Beach earned their spot after securing the automatic bid by winning the Big West Championship final match against UC San Diego, 10-8.  
 
The tournament is an eight-team, single elimination bracket, and the Beach will open up against Fordham on Friday, December 6 at the Avery Aquatics Center in Stanford, Calif. The semifinals are scheduled for December 7 with the finals to be held the next day on Sunday, December 8.  
 
The Beach (20-10) enters the postseason on a five-game winning streak and is led by freshman Gabi Acosta on with 63 goals and senior Aaron Wilson in the cage who was named the Most Valuable Player at the Big West Championship. The freshman class has scored in over half of the team's goals this season and Kostantinos Kapragkos netted a hat-trick to help the Beach secure their first conference championship since 2021. 
 
This will be the 14th appearance by Long Beach State in the NCAA Championship. All matches will be livestreamed on NCAA.com with live stats to be followed on 6-8sports.com/scores. The championship match will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
