Defeat in Emilia. In the seventh matchday of the male Serie A1 championship, at the "Carmen Longo" Swimming Stadium, Pallanuoto Trieste was defeated by De Akker Bologna with a score of 13-12. "We definitely deserved something more - analyzes coach Maurizio Mirarchi - the incidents decided the outcome and we were quite unlucky. I must say that the boys gave their maximum effort, the result doesn't favor us but we have room to grow. We need to work hard, we know it, the season is still long." In the standings, the team sponsored by Samer & Co. Shipping remains at 10 points, tied for sixth place with Telimar Palermo.
The match report. Manzi opens the match after 1'13" (0-1), Cocchi responds (1-1). Luongo from a penalty and Tringali give Bologna a +2 advantage (3-1). Captain Petronio shortens the gap (3-2), before Urbinati's goal: 4-2 at the end of the first period. In the second quarter, Petronio with an extra man and Draskovic bring the alabaster team back to a temporary tie (4-4), but a brace from Abramson and a goal from Rouwenhorst give the hosts a maximum lead (7-4). Mladossich keeps the team from Trieste close (7-5), Gallo extends the lead to +3 for the blue and red team: 8-5 at halftime.
The battle continues in the third period. Mirarchi sends Oliva into the goal. Draskovic from a penalty, Mladossich and Manzi level the score (8-8). Luongo and Condemi in a power play give Bologna a new +2 advantage (10-8). Mladossich scores again for 10-9, but Luongo is in a great form: 11-9 with 8' left in the game. In the fourth quarter, the scenario stays the same, with a game characterized by constant turnarounds, although Trieste finds itself heavily burdened by fouls in the decisive moments of the match. A spirited Draskovic tries to fuel the comeback for Trieste: first he scores calmly from the five meters, then he ties the game at 11-11. Bologna takes the lead again with Condemi (12-11). Draskovic scores a great goal from a distance (12-12), but De Akker takes the lead once again and Lucci seals the result at the final 13-12.
